Summary

The Revised Uniform Arbitration Act, now 5 years old, has very significantly changed Pennsylvania arbitration law. It codifies the obligation to disclose arbitrator conflicts of interest, immunizes arbitrators from civil liability, authorizes punitive damages and allows waiver of numerous provisions. If counsel understand the RUAA, it can be far more expedient, economical and confidential than litigation.
