Mannion Prior founder and Managing Partner James F. Mannion concentratest his practice on Orphans' Court litigation, and is recognized as a leading member of Pennsylvania's Orphans' Court Bar.t His practice includes fiduciary litigation, will contests, trust disputes, estate litigation, guardianship proceedings and litigation, fee and commissiont disputes, and non-profit/charitable litigation.
n nJames has successfully litigated at the trial and appellate court levels,t and is admitted to the Pennsylvania bar and the United States Tax Courtt bar. He has served as lead counsel on numerous cases of first impression,t including the first reported decision recognizing a claim for tortioust interference with an inheritance under Pennsylvania law, and the 2005t Pennsylvania Superior Courtt en banc decision int W.W. Smith Trust.
n nJames is a member of thet Joint State Government Commission Advisory Committee on Decedents Estate Law, and served as Deputy Counsel to The Pennsylvania Supreme Court's Orphans' Court Procedural Rules Committee. James is a Fellow of thet American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel (ACTEC). He lectures frequently on fiduciaryt litigation and Orphans' Court matters, and has served as an expertt witness in fiduciary litigation matters.
n nJames has been included in the 2018 Edition oft The Best Lawyers in America , an honor he has received for sixteen consecutive years. James hast been recognized byt Best Lawyers for his work in Trusts and Estates from 2003-2010, and in Litigation -t Trusts and Estates from 2011-2018.t
James earned his B.B.A. in Accounting in 1987 from Pace University. Int 1990, he received a Juris Doctor with Highest Honors from The George Washingtont University National Law Center, where he was a member of The George Washingtont Law Review, Moot Court Board, and Order of the Coif. In 1993, he earnedt an LLM in Taxation from the Villanova University School of Law.
