EDUCATION: nI graduated from the University of Delaware in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and Temple University Law School in 1989. nEXPERIENCE: nI have been practicing law for twenty years. My legal career began in the Montgomery County Public Defenders Office where I was in court practically every day gaining experience in all areas of criminal law. I have tried, and won, all types of cases ranging form Retail Theft to Attempted Murder. nI have litigated literally thousands of county and state parole hearings. The Board of Probation and Parole is a state agency and arguing before them has given me valuable experience in agency law. nI also have appellate experience. I have submitted briefs and argued cases before the Pennsylvania Superior Court and the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania. nAs a Public Defender I started a Mental Health Team, and for approximately two years I took on a special case load of mentally ill criminal defendants, and I also represented the mentally ill in civil commitment hearings. The representation of the mentally ill has become my specialty. I have represented consumers, in trial, before the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, and on appeal before the Superior Court and the Commonwealth Court. And I have represented consumers at mental health hearings nI also have experience in family and civil litigation. In family law I have experience with Custody cases; Protection From Abuse hearings and Indirect Criminal Contempt hearings. nIn civil law I have represented parties in contract cases and plaintiffs work. nI have also served as an arbitrator on numerous occasions as a panel member and board chairmen, hearing, and ruling on, all manner of civil lawsuits.
