In a message to membership dated April 25, 2022, MBA President Sarinia M. Feinman, Esq. stated the following:

Dear Members,

One of the many responsibilities of our Bar Association is to protect the integrity of our profession and our judiciary, as well as the sustenance of our organization, especially in the face of proposed legislation deemed harmful to any of those institutions.

Our Government Relations Committee, as well as the Pennsylvania Bar Association, has informed us of two (2) House Bills proposed in the Pennsylvania legislature: HB 1910 and HB 2066.

HB 1910 proposes to amend the Constitution of Pennsylvania to remove the Supreme Court’s exclusive power to prescribe general rules governing practice, procedure and the conduct of all courts, judicial officers and related officials, and for admission to the Bar to practice law, but instead make the Supreme Court’s power subject to legislative override (Click here to read bill).

HB 2066 proposes to amend The Administrative Code of 1929 by adding section 2803-E, which requires the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Pennsylvania Superior Court and the Pennsylvania Commonwealth court to consolidate their operations within the Pennsylvania Judicial Center located in the city of Harrisburg (Click here to read bill).

After a careful review, presentation, and recommendation by our Government Relations Committee during last week’s meeting of the Board of Directors, our Board voted to adopt the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s statement opposing HB 2066 (click here to read) and the Pennsylvania Bar Association Judicial Administration Committee's recommendation to oppose HB 1910 (click here to read).

I implore you to read these statements and to join us in our opposition by contacting your local legislators and asking that they do the same.

There is strength in numbers.  When the integrity of our judiciary and our profession is in jeopardy, it is our responsibility as lawyers, judges, and members of the Montgomery Bar Association to join together and surmount any such threat.

Thank you,

President, Montgomery Bar Association
