The Honorable R. Stephen Barrett (September 13, 1950 - June 12, 2025)

Judge Barrett was born on September 13, 1950 in Chestnut Hill to Edith (Hastings) Barrett and Robert Barrett, he was raised with a deep sense of responsibility, fairness, and compassion—values that would guide him through a lifelong career in public service. He graduated from Springfield High School (1969), earned his undergraduate degree from Penn State University (1973), and went on to receive his law degree from the University of Toledo (1976).

He began his professional life as a solicitor for Montgomery County and later served with distinction as a Judge in the Court of Common Pleas. Most of his time on the bench was spent in Family Court, with a meaningful period in Juvenile Court, where he brought empathy and insight to every case.
